Emma Jean Newton, 68, Loretto

Emma Jean Newton, 68, of Loretto, died Friday, May 6, 2011, at Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Home in Lebanon, Ky.

She was born June 2, 1942, in Marion County and was a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph William “Wedge” and Alice Smith Miles and four brothers, Kenneth, Junie, Pat and Jerry Miles.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Stanley Newton; two sons, Steve (Polly) Newton of Lebanon, Tommy (Mary) Newton of Riley, Ky.; two daughters, Alice (Romie) Mattingly of Lebanon and Lora (Keith) Napier of Columbia, Ky.;  and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Sunday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto. A prayer service is 5 p.m. Sunday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011 at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Saint Francis, with interment in Saint Charles Cemetery in Saint Mary’s, Ky.  Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will be the celebrant.
