Firefighters respond after candle kindles fire in Edgewood home

Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, 2:45 a.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded to the 300 block of Edgewood Drive for a report of the smell of smoke in a home. Firefighters responded to the call at 1:45 a.m. After investigating, firefighters traced the odor to a candle on a shelf that had caused a small fire. The fire was out when firefighters arrived. The American Red Cross responded to the home to assist residents with their shelter needs. Firefighters used fans to remove smoke from the home and remained on the scene until a Red Cross representative arrived.
