JOSEPH ROBERT NALLEY SR.

Joseph Robert Nalley Sr., 94, of Louisville, entered eternal life on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015. He was a native of St. Francis. He retired from Inland Container Corporation in Louisville where he was a corrugator operator for 40 years. He was member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. He loved his religion and professed it daily in prayers. He was a veteran of World War II and a Seargent in the 489th Engineers in European Operations from Africa through Germany in 1943; He served in the barrage balloon outfit and earned five battle stars from Africa and Sicily.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend of 68 years, Anna Lelia Lucas Nalley; his parents, Thomas Nalley and Eulalia Isabel Downs; one sister; five brothers; one son, Joseph Robert Nalley Jr.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Haywood (Philip) of Belfry, Denise Thomas (Steve) of Middletown, Sheila Gensheimer (Mark) of Mount Washington; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to his caregivers, Carol and Wanda.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015, St. Bernard Catholic Church, 7500 Tangelo Drive, Louisville, with burial at 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in St. Francis withe the Rev. Robert L. Stuempel officiating. Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. Friday at the Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 0600 Taylorsville Road in Jeffersontown and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Local arrangements are by Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto.
