Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, 1 p.m. — Two brothers were arrested Sunday morning after police were called to a Bardstown bar for a fight in progress.
At 1:05 a.m. Sunday, Bardstown Police were dispatched to Half Lit Bar and Lounge, 133 Banjo St., for a group involved in a fight. By the time officers arrived, the fight was over. Police found Jesse Derek Thornsberry and his brother, Rocky Thornsberry, sitting in the back of a black pickup truck in the parking lot. Jesse Thornsberry told police he and his brother were jumped by several unknown male subjects after he was dancing with an unidentified woman in the bar. The assailants fled before officers arrived. Officers observed that Jesse Thornsberry had visible cuts to his face and head.
As the brothers were being placed under arrested for alcohol intoxication in a public place, Jesse Thornsberry became obnoxious. At the jail he refused to exit the police cruiser and had to be physically removed from it. Inside the jail cell he became violent, hitting his head multiple times on the cell door, inflicting injuries to his forehead and facial area. He ignored commands to cease, and the jail refused to accept Thornsberry until he was cleared by medical personnel.
On the way to Flaget Memorial Hospital, he became belligerent and began kicking the cruiser’s windows, wiping blood and spitting on the glass and cage area of the vehicle, and damaging the inside door area. At this point officers used pepper spray to bring him under control.
As he entered the hospital, Thornsberry kicked a hospital door off its track, and officers took him too the ground inside the lobby. Officers escorted him to his hospital bed and stayed until he was medically cleared to be taken back to the county jail.
Jesse Thornsberry was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, criminal mischief, third-degree (3 countS); disorderly conduct, second-degree; and third-degree assault, police/probation officer (2 counts).
His brother, Rocky Thornsberry, 34, was arrested without incident and charged with alcohol intoxication. Both were lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
