Obituary: Billy Ray Edelen, 77, Bardstown

Billy Ray Edelen, 77, of Bardstown, died Sunday, Sept. 13, 2015, at his home. He was born Nov. 27, 1937, in Washington County. He was a mechanic for Heaven Hill Distillery and a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ben Edelen; his parents, Ruth and Raymond Edelen; and one brother, Joe Edelen.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Mudd Edelen of Bardstown; two daughters, Marie Griffith of Mount Washington and Julie Couture (John) of Urbandale, Iowa; one brother, Jimmy Edelen of Springfield; five grandchildren, Joshua Couture, Grace Couture, Jessica Griffith, Nathan Couture, and Sadie Couture; many nieces and nephews; and his caregivers, Barbara and Buddy Gallander.

The funeral is noon Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ben Brown and the Rev. Matthew Hardesty will con-celebrant.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, and 10-11:15 a.m. Saturday at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial Contributions may go to Masses or Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph.
