Driver injured Tuesday night on BG when his tanker truck overturns

Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, 9 a.m. — An overturned Peterbilt semi tanker truck closed the eastbound lanes of the Bluegrass Parkway near the 22 mile marker at about 10 p.m. Tuesday night.
At 9 a.m. Wednesday, the eastbound lanes remain closed at the 21 mile marker and traffic is being routed through Bardstown. The eastbound lanes are expected to remain closed for several more hours.
Nelson County Fire and Rescue, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, Bardstown Police and Nelson County EMA responded for the single-vehicle crash reported by KSP at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. The semi tanker was hauling a non-flammable chemical used for making molded urethane foam for automobile interior components.
The driver of the semi, 49-year-old Franklin Lawrence of Hurricane, West Va., was transported by Nelson County EMS to Flaget Memorial Hospital before being airlifted to University Hospital with serious injuries.
The crash was investigated by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office.
