New Haven man dies after collision with farm machinery on Boston Road

nc_fire200Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, 10:45 p.m. (UPDATED Sept. 24) — A New Haven man died from injuries sustained after his pickup truck crashed into a piece of farm machinery Wednesday night on US 62, Boston Road, near its intersection with Airport Road. At 9:10 p.m., Nelson County EMS, Nelson County Fire & Rescue and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched for a collision involving a combine and another vehicle, with a victim entrapped. Firefighters used their rescue tools to free John Garnett Jackson, 30, from his vehicle. He was transported by EMS to a waiting medical helicopter at Samuels Field and then flown to University Hospital. Jackson later died at University Hospital of injuries sustained in the crash.
