Obituary: Dennis Ray Denton, 81, Bardstown

Dennis Ray Denton, 81, of Bardstown, formerly of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015 at his home in Bardstown following a year-long struggle with ALS. While living in Shelbyville, he served as the controller for the McGregor Division of the Brunswick Corporation in Eminence.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Isabelle Denton; one daughter, Debra Denton of Louisville; one son, Joshua Denton (Susan) of Franklin, Tenn.; two sisters, Imogene Moretz of Louisville and Jo Denton Kindle of Austin, Texas; one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Biery of Louisville; one grandson, Joshua John Denton; and a host of extended family and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bardstown with the Rev. Jeffrey Hopper officiating. Burial is in the St. Rose Priory Cemetery in Springfield.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home, 1475 New Shepherdsville Road, Bardstown, with a 7 p.m. prayer service Friday by Deacon Sam Filiatreau.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the ALS Association or to Mass of the Air, Louisville.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
