OTHIR WILLIAM “JAKE” JACOBS

Othir William “Jake” Jacobs Jr., 86, of Bardstown, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015, at his residence. He was born Dec. 12, 1928, in Spencer County. He was a retired truck driver for Mago Construction. He drove cars for Conway-Heaton and painted signs. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of American Legion Post No. 167, and a member of the Baptist Faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanora Maddox Jacobs; one stepdaughter, Sherry Maddox; one sister, Mary Lou Jacobs; one brother, Robert Jacobs; his parents, Othir and Estell Jacobs; and several grandchildren.

He is survived by four daughters, Cynthia Claxton, Janet Tonge, Mary Schooling, and Cheril Johnson all of Bardstown; five sons, William Maddox, Robert Maddox Sr. and Marion Claxton, all of Bardstown, Tony Jacobs of Lexington and Hubert Maddox Jr. of Louisville; three cousins, Juanita Stivers of Bloomfield, Raymond Hays of Bardstown, and Barbara Henderson of Ohio; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at Barlow Funeral Home, with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Jewel Brock will officiate.

Visitation is 10 a.m.- 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to American Cancer Society.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
