WBRT Radio Team partner inducted into Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame

Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 — WBRT Radio Team partner Bob Manning was one of the 25 men and women veterans inducted Friday night, Sept. 25, 2015, into the Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Frankfort.

Manning and the other inductees were honored for what each of them has done since returning home. They all have continued to serve their nation.

Manning is a founding board member of USA Cares, a non-profit organization devoted to providing help to post-9/11 military families. Manning also helps many veterans in getting their veterans benefits. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

WBRT’s partners were honored to be with Bob and his wife Bonny at these ceremonies.

The Kentucky Veterans Hall of Fame, established in 2014, honors Kentucky military veterans who have demonstrated exemplary military service as well as military and civilian service to their communities, state and nation.

Friday’s events honored each new members’ active duty efforts. The events on Saturday highlighted each members’ work after leaving active duty.

USA Cares was launched through a grassroots partnership between the management of WAVE-3 TV in Louisville, Kentucky, Kroger Food Stores, and the Fort Knox Chapter of the Association of the United States Army.

The organization was dubbed “Kentuckiana Cares” with a goal to raise funds to help military families in financial crisis through the sale of “Support Our Troops” yard signs. In October 2003, a new 501(c)(3), national organization now known as USA Cares was created with a toll-free call center to process the increasing number of requests for assistance.
