Motorcycle rider dies in Sunday evening Bluegrass Parkway crash

Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, 12:30 p.m. — A motorcycle rider died Sunday evening after he was hit by a car that crossed the median and hit his motorcycle.
Michael Sinclair, 58, of Washago, Ontario, Canada, was riding his 2008 BMW motorcycle around the 8 mile marker westbound on the Bluegrass Parkway when an eastbound 2006 Ford Focus crossed the median into the westbound lanes. Sinclair was unable to avoid the vehicle and hit the driver’s side door. Sinclair was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner.
The accident happened at about 6 p.m.
The Ford Focus was driven by Joel Stegner, 20, of Fort Thomas, who had to be extricated from his vehicle by first-responders. He was flown by helicopter from the scene to University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The accident remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Trooper Brandon Brooks.
