Water heater problem prompts evacuation of Boston School

Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, 12:30 p.m. — The Boston Fire Department was called Thursday afternoon to the Boston Elementary School, 130 Wilson Creek newfirelogoRoad, for an active fire in the school’s electrical room. Firefighters, Nelson County EMS and police were dispatched at 12:02 p.m. Thursday for the possible fire at the school. Firefighters arrived to find the school evacuated. Their investigation determined that an electrical short in a water heater element was causing smoke in the school’s electrical room. Firefighters cut the power to the water heater and advised school personnel of the problem in order to have the problems repaired. Firefighters stayed on the scene until school maintenance personnel arrived.
