Obituary: George Kaelin, 59, Bardstown

George Kaelin, 59, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at his home. He was born August 7, 1956, in Bardstown. He was a retired electrical engineer for the U.S.Navy and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also an active Amateur Radio operator whose FCC-assigned funeral_flowercallsign was KD4UKH.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Kaelin.

He is survived by his mother, Edith Kaelin; one sister, Patricia (David) Vittitow both of Bardstown; one niece, Brandi (Brian) Crawford of Louisville; two great-nephews, one great-niece; and several cousins.

The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Bill Hammer officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, and 8-9:15 a.m. Saturday at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to Masses at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
