Traffic stop for canceled plate leads to arrest on drug, weapons charge

Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, 3 p.m. — A Bardstown woman was arrested Thursday after a traffic stop turned up drugs and a concealed deadly weapon.
Seidah Marie Montgomery, 36, of Bardstown, was operating a Chrysler van when she was stopped by Officer Kyler Wright for operating a vehicle with a license plate canceled for failure to maintain insurance. Wright determined that Montgomery was also operating on a suspended license.
Wright deployed his K-9 “Zeus” to check the vehicle, and the K-9 indicated on the driver’s side door of the vehicle. Wright located a Taurus .357 caliber handgun, a plastic container with seven individually wrapped baggies of marijuana and a small amount of cash.
Montgomery was arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, (less than 8 ounces); carrying a concealed deadly weapon; no registration plates; no registration receipt; no insurance; and operating on a suspended or revoked operators license.
