Ham radio club meeting set for Wednesday, Oct. 28 at EMS

Friday, Oct. 23, 2015 — The Bardstown area Kentucky Amateur Radio Society (KARS) will hold its second monthly October meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015, in the EMS building at the intersection of Buchannan Blvd. and Atkinson Hill Ave. in Bardstown. The topic of this meeting will be a discussion with Mr. Scott Tibbetts, American Red Cross, Disaster Program Manager, Crossroads Division, covering Red Cross communications needs in the event of an emergency in Nelson County and how KARS can support those needs.
The KARS November meeting is Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at the EMS Building. The second monthly meeting for November would be scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, will not happen this month due to its proximity to Thanksgiving.
All amateur radio operators and anyone interested in learning about amateur radio is encouraged to attend the October and November meeting. KARS conducts a general interest net on the Bardstown 2m repeater (frequency: 145.470, PL 151.4) each Sunday evening at 9pm local time. KARS conducts the Weather Training Net to Wednesday evening at 8:30pm local time on the same repeater. Licensed amateurs are encouraged to call in to both nets.
