KTIA chairman Jerry Summers presents Dawn Przystal, executive director of the Bardstown- Nelson County convention & tourism bureau, with the 2015 member of the year award.

Pryzstal received the award on Oct. 20, 2105 during the Kentucky Travel Industry Annual Conference held in Bowling Green. Jerry Summers, KTIA Chairman and Director of Community Relations for Jim Beam Brands, made the presentation.

“Dawn is one of those people who needs absolutely no encouragement to pitch in, to help, to roll up her sleeves and to work very hard for this industry and this association,” Summers said of Przystal.

He described how with last year’s conference, she took the lead with the association’s silent and live auctions, one of the organization’s most important fundraisers and one of the most challenging volunteer roles within the association. Przystal undertook the same role in 2015 and the receipts from this year’s auctions broke the record she set in 2014.

When KTIA experienced a change of staff leadership in 2015, she agreed to take on extra tasks, which included assisting with the Traverse Marketing Awards program and with overall conference planning.

When the KTIA Board of Directors convened a Public Relations Task Force earlier this year, Summers said Pryzstal was the first to volunteer and ultimately served as the chair. “

The KTIA’s Member of the Year award is based on member recommendations with the selection determined by the association’s nominating committee.

WHO IS KTIA? The Kentucky Travel Industry Association represents all segments of Kentucky’s $13.1 billion tourism industry. The 800-member organization engages in advocacy and provides its members with education, information and business development opportunities. The association also works to inform the public of the enormous economic, employment and tax revenue contributions tourism makes to Kentucky.
