A group of about 30 people greeted Grimes as she arrived and visited with others enjoy breakfast at the restaurant.

Grimes told supporters that she feels that visiting Bardstown in the final 72 hours of an election campaign is a prerequisite as Election Day nears.

AUDIO CLIP 1: With good poll numbers showing her lead in her race, Grimes told WBRT she felt good about next Tuesday’s election.

Her re-election is an opportunity to bounce back from millions of dollars in negative campaign ads that she faced in her unsuccessful race against Sen. Mitch McConnell.

“This, more than anything, is showing that $100 million did knock me down, but it didn’t write our obituary,” she said to applause. “You don’t give up, you continue to fight.”

Grimes told supporters she’s encouraged by the positive response she receives in her campaign. She promised to continue the progress she’s made in a second term as secretary of state.
