Obituary: John Ernest Cowherd, 61, Lebanon

John Ernest Cowherd, 61, of Lebanon, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at his home. He was born Feb. 8, 1954, in Lebanon. He was an employee of Lebanon Oak and Flooring and was a member of the Sherman Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sidney and Katie Catharine Cowherd;
four sisters, Josephine Conner, Ann O’Dean Estelle Cowherd and Lizzie Edelen; and four brothers, Emmett Cowherd, James Cowherd, Robert L. Cowherd and Richard R. Cowherd.

Survivors include his wife, Mary A. Cowherd of Lebanon; two daughters, Denitra Cowherd and Dana (Joey) Porter, both of Lebanon; two sisters, Mary Catherine Cowherd and Lorene Gunn, both of Lebanon; two brothers, William Thomas Cowherd and Charles Cowherd, both of Lebanon; and five grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, at the Bosley Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Tommy Calhoun and the Rev. Ronald Puryear. Burial is in the Ryder Cemetery.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at the funeral home.

The Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon is in charge of the arrangements.
