Martha K. Murphy, 81, Bardstown

Martha K. Murphy, 81, of Bardstown, died Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. She was born October 9, 1929, in Bardstown. She was a lifelong homemaker, a resident of the Maple Hill neighborhood and a member of St. Joseph Parish.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Hubert Murphy; two brothers, Billy Pike Durbin and J.R. Durbin; and four sisters, Dorothy Puckett, Christine Newton, Ruby Brooks, and Rebecca Carey.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ray Murphy; three daughters, Audrey (Steve) Yates, of Warner Robins, GA, Arlene (Frankie) Durbin of Bardstown, Nina (Steve) Barnes of Versailles; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by Deacon Sam Filiatreau.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.  Reverend Michael Wimsatt will celebrate.
