Letter: Thanks to volunteers, sponors for successful Halloween Party

To the editor:

On behalf of the Bardstown Parks & Recreation Department staff, I want to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who made our 8th annual free Halloween Party an outstanding success. More than 500 youth were in attendance, along with parents and grandparents. Special thanks to Shannon letter-to-the-editorOller at the Guthrie Opportunity Center for use of their facility.

Offering this community event can only be achieved through generous support from local businesses, civic clubs, and volunteers. Our monetary sponsors were 44 Auto Mart and Bardstown Rotary Club. Bardstown Optimist Club generously distributed hot dogs and drinks to all trick or treaters; WBRT did a live remote and free advertising; Whispering Wheels Roller Rink donated skate passes; Newcomb Oil and Save-A-Lot donated candy; Wendy’s, toys; Bardstown Sporting Goods, trophies; Tom/Kent Bischoff, straw; sponsors who set up booths and handed out treats included 44 Auto Mart, Conway-Heaton, EMS, Franklin Chevrolet, Lincoln National Bank, Michel Tires, Cobra Wrestling.

Thanks to costume contest judges Mayor John Royalty, Bob Paschal, and Jennifer Stone. Thanks to admission volunteers Judy Newton, Mary Byrnes, Jennifer Waldron, and Jennifer Stone. Thanks to the 12 National Honor Society volunteers from Thomas Nelson and Nelson County High Schools who managed the games. Very special thanks to head volunteer, Edwin Cecil and our hard working, dedicated recreation staff. Looking forward to providing a safe, fun, family event again next year!
