Paving work to close area around Court Square through Wednesday
STAFF REPORT
Tuesday, May 10, 2011, 8:30 a.m. — Traffic around Court Square in downtown Bardstown will be closed at times over the next several days as crews remove and replace asphalt paving. The work will include all of the paving around the Old Courthouse, and extend one block east and west on Stephen Foster Avenue.
Once the paving is replaced, the roadway will receive final striping, and the final work on the Streetscape project will be completed.
At 8 a.m. Tuesday, Court Square and Stephen Foster were closed to traffic as milling — the grinding up of the old asphalt — began. Stephen Foster is closed at its intersection with Second Street and Fourth Street.
The planned stop tomorrow by GOP gubernatorial candidates David Williams and Richie Farmer has been moved to the Bardstown Farmers Market area. The initial plan had been for the candidates to park their campaign bus on the Court Square.
If you plan to travel through downtown over the next few days, expect detours and delays while paving continues.
