Updated: Man airlifted from scene after serious crash on KY 245

Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015, 2 a.m. — A Bardstown man was seriously injured Tuesday evening when the 2009 Mazda SUV he was operating was rear-ended at highway speed by a 2014 International box truck operated by Christopher B. Desjourdy, 62, of Buffalo. The accident happened just before 6 p.m. on KY245 at the Templin Avenue intersection. The crash disrupted traffic on KY245 for nearly three hours.
Joseph R. Bland, 40, of Bardstown, was trapped in his vehicle following the crash and required extrication by the Bardstown Fire Department. He was treated by Nelson County EMS and then flown from the scene by medical helicopter to University Hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injuries.
