Obituary: LaVerne Hall Corbett, 95, Bardstown
LaVerne Hall Corbett, 95, of Bardstown, died Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at the Episcopal Church Home on Westport Road in Louisville where she lived since September 2013.
She was born in Bardstown and lived there with her family for all her life until moving to Louisville in 2011. She graduated from Bethlehem High School in 1938 and worked in Bardstown until she married Leo W. Corbett in 1944. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral and member of the Altar Society. She was an accomplished china painter, knitter, and artist. She enjoyed sharing her china pieces with others. She was a loving and devoted wife to Leo and their three children. She had a great devotion to the Holy Rosary and encouraged her children to do the same.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo W. Corbett; and three brothers, John Miles “Bud” Hall, Richard Marlin Hall, and William Gerald “Jerry” Hall.
She is survived by three children, Karlton Corbett Ballard (Leon) of Palm Harbor, Fla., Rob Corbett (Dr. Kathleen Corbett) of Louisville, and Sr. Katherine Corbett, OSU, of the Louisville Ursuline Sisters; one brother, Joseph Norbert “Neb” Hall; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, Richard Ballard and son Corbett; Ben Corbett (Tara) and children, Ella and Toby; Colin Corbett Fothergill (David) and daughter Nyssa; Casey Corbett Fein (Scott) and daughter Sylvie; Kely Corbett Chappell (Aaron) and daughter Zoey; Timothy Corbett and son Kai; and youngest granddaughter, Dr. Kristen Corbett.
Her Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2015, at St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with the Rev. Terry Bradshaw officiating.
Visitation is 1-7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, and 9-10:15 a.m. Monday at Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown with a prayer service Sunday evening.
Memorial donations may go to Masses or the donor’s favorite charity.
