Obituary: Richard ‘Barry’ Doyle, 90, New Haven

Richard “Barry” Doyle, 90, of New Haven, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, peacefully surrounded by family at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. He was born in Dubuque, Iowa to Joseph and Rachael (Barry) Doyle.

He was preceded in death by his four Madonna, Mary Jane, Dorrance and Francis, and is survived by Veronica, Kathleen, and Gerald.

He served as a transport pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. After the war, He graduated from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., established a career as a bio-chemist for Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago, Ill. He and his wife Adrienne Louise Roberts were married for 67 years as they created a family of 12 children.

After a successful 30-year career with Abbott Laboratories, he retired in 1993 with his wife to New Haven, where they enjoyed reading, camping and overseas traveling. He was a devoted parishioner at St. Catherine Catholic Church, where he participated in the choir and served as a lector.

Survivors include his children and their spouses, Terence (Alane), Joseph (Judith), Robert, Rebecca (Gregory), Daniel, Mary Lynn (David), Peter (Noreen), Maureen (Barry), Pamela, John, Catherine and Craig; 19 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at the Joseph L. Greenwood Funeral Home, 324 Center St. in New Haven.

The Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at St. Catherine Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery.

The Joseph L. Greenwood Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of the arrangements.
