Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, 9:45 a.m. — A Bardstown man was arrested on theft-related charges Wednesday after he allegedly stole a friend’s car, video game console and his .45-caliber handgun.
Joseph “Joey” William Hamilton, 37, was arrested following a Bardstown Police investigation of a complaint from a man who believed a his friend — Hamilton — had taken several items, including a 2005 Dodge Magnum, an X-Box One, and a Springfield Armory .45 handgun.
Approximately two hours after the vehicle was reported stolen, the victim’s friends reported seeing Hamilton driving the car and that it was parked at the Nelson County Library parking lot on Cathedral Manor. The victim contacted Hamilton about the theft and then called police.
Police located the vehicle at the library, but Hamilton apparently fled the area on foot. Police searched the area and later located Hamilton at an address in the 200 block of South Kennett Ave. Hamilton was arrested and charged with one count of receiving stolen property.
The handgun and the game console were not recovered.
The investigation is ongoing, and police ask individuals with information to contact the Bardstown Police Department, (502) 348-6811, or Nelson County Dispatch (502) 348-3211.
