Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015 — Another distillery could soon arrive in the Bourbon Capital of the World.

Luxco, at St. Louis-based marketer of distilled spirits, is considering Bardstown as home for a $27.3 million distillery on 55 acres located on KY245 luxcoacross from Keystone Cinemas.

The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority board voted preliminary approval Thursday for $1.3 million in tax incentives for the project. The new distillery will employ an estimated 34 people with an hourly wage of $25 including benefits.

According to the finance authority board, Luxco based part of its decision on the scenic setting for the distillery, which will make it an attractive part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.

The distillery would be the company’s first distillery it owns outright. Last year, the company bought 50 percent interest in the Limestone Branch Distillery in Lebanon to produce bourbon for Luxco’s Yellowstone brand.

Some of Luxco’s other brands include Ezra Brooks and Rebel Yell bourbons, Pearl Vodka, Everclear grain alcohol and a variety of scotch and Canadian whiskeys.

The Joint City-County Planning Commission will consider the needed rezoning for the project at a special meeting 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2015, in the Fiscal Court meeting room in the Old Courthouse.
