Deadline for youth Optimist Essay Contest approaching

Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015 — The deadline for the annual Optimist Essay Contest is fast approaching for area youth. The deadline for entries is Jan. 6, 2016.

optimist_logoThe contest is open to any student 17 years of age or under as of Oct. 1, 2015. Students are asked to compose a 700- to 800-word essay on “Lead by Example: Reality or Fiction.”

At the local level students will receive one scholarship of $200 for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third place. The winner at the District level is awarded one scholarship of $2,500 by Optimist International.
