Log truck crash leaves load blocking part of westbound BG Parkway

Wednesday, May 11, 2011, 7:50 a.m. — The driver of a semi tractor-trailer escaped serious injury when his rig — carrying a load of logs == left the Blue Grass Parkway at the 16 mile-marker and overturned Tuesday afternoon. The driver, a 37-year-old Willisburg man, suffered minor cuts and abrasions in the crash, which happened just after 4 p.m. Tuesday. The driverrefused treatment and transport by Nelson County EMS. The Bardstown Fire Department responded because initial reports indicated the rig was on fire; other reports to the Kentucky State Police post in Elizabethtown said the truck may have exploded. The crash left logs in the westbound lanes of the parkway for several hours, partially blocking them. Officers from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office and Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement responded to the scene.
