New Haven man indicted Wednesday on sex-related charges with a minor

Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, 11:15 a.m. — A New Haven man was indicted Wednesday on rape, sexual abuse and sodomy charges by a Nelson County 1_indictmentgrand jury.

Joseph Travis Mattingly, 37, of New Haven, was indicted on one count each of first-degree attempted rape and first-degree sodomy, and seven counts of sexual abuse in the first-degree.

According to the indictment, between June 1, 2014 and Oct. 1, 2015, Mattingly allegedly engaged in deviant sexual contact with a minor under 12 years old by the use of forcible compulsion.

Mattingly’s bond was set at $100,000 cash only, plus conditions. He will be arraigned Jan. 7, 2016 in Nelson Circuit Court.

An indictment is an accusation only, and all persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent under Kentucky law until proven guilty.
