Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, 11 p.m. — A Glendale woman died Tuesday morning in a single-vehicle crash on I-65 in Hardin County. The crash occurred in the northbound lanes just north of the 96 mile marker at about 9:05 a.m.
According to the Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown, Lynnsey Nicole Johnson, 21, was driving her 2004 Chevrolet northbound when for unknown reasons she lost control of her vehicle, which left the road, struck a guardrail and spun back onto the northbound lanes where the car was struck by 2016 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Gary M. Nixon, 55, of Chester Gap, Va. The car came to rest in the median.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hardin County Coroner’s office. Northbound traffic was delayed with one lane open for several hours while KSP Troopers reconstructed the accident. The accident is still under investigation by Troopers Dewan Kelly and Scott Rafferty.
