Obituary: Charles Ray Willett, 81, formerly of Washington County

Charles Ray Willett, 81, of Lexington, formerly of Washington County, entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, in Lexington. He was born in Washington County on Jan. 10, 1934, to the late Claudia Prudence Cusick and Thomas Herschel Willett. He leaves behind a funeral_candlelegacy of hospitality and generosity to all he knew. He will be remembered for his amazing cooking abilities, especially his fried chicken and fish, much to the delight of many visitors to his home. He was an avid fisherman who loved fishing trips and bonfires with his many nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Shirley Ann Mattingly Willett, who died Oct. 15, 2015; his siblings, Mary Alice Higdon, Dorothy Blandford, Margie Johnston, Thomas Herschel Willett, Jr., John W. Willett, James Edward Willett, Joseph Bertrum Willett and Xavier Russell Willett.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra Willett Hupman (Steve) and Fran Willett Elder (David); two sisters, Juanita Lewis and Shirley Woods; and three grandchildren, Ashton Katherine, Charles Benton and Ann Merrick Hupman, to whom he was totally devoted.

Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at the Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon with a pryaer service at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Augustine School or to the Arthritis Foundation.

The Bosley Funeral Home in Lebanon is in charge of the arrangements.
