Obituary: Ruby Pearl Shewmaker, 87, Bardstown

Ruby Pearl Shewmaker, 87, of Bardstown, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center. She was born June 13, 1928, in Harrodsburg. She was a homemaker and a graduate of McAfee High School. She was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, a part-time Wal-Mart greeter, and a Kentucky Colonel.

funeral_flowerShe was preceded in death by her husband, Lois K. “Red” Shewmaker; her father, Leslie Tatum; her mother, Ethel Mae Tatum; her stepmother, Alice Manaugh Tatum; and two brothers, Leroy Tatum and Ronald K. Tatum.

She is survived by two daughters, Pam (Joey) Satterly and Sue (Ron) Watts, both of Bardstown; one son, Danny (Debbie) Shewmaker; one brother, Donald Ray (Shirley) Tatum of Lancaster; seven grandchildren, Michael D. Watts, Jason D. Watts, Mark Watts, Kim VanMeter, Kelly Shewmaker, Danielle Riley, Lesley Satterly; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at Mill Creek Baptist Church with burial in the Peters Cemetery in Mackville with Bro. Danny Haynes officiating.

Visitation is 3:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Barlow Funeral Home, and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the Mill Creek Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may go to the Mill Creek Baptist Church Food Pantry.

The Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
