MARVIN R. HAMMOND

Marvin R. Hammond, 71, of Bloomfield, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late John Foree and Anna Pauline Hill Hammond. He was born April 2, 1944, in Middletown. He was a retired employee of Overnite Transportation and a farmer who loved woodworking.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Daniel Temple; four sisters, Lorine Goins, Rachel Hibbs, Linda Kelly, Mary Etta Bryant; and one brother, J.W. Hammond.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Kay Hammond of Bloomfield; two daughters, Teresa Y. “Teri” Hammond of Bloomfield, and Melissa “Missy” Hammond Temple of Floyds Knobs, Ind.; two sisters, Helen (Gary Hagan) Shepherd of Crestwood, and Joan (Jimmy) Cheatham of Mount Washington; three brothers, Leroy Hammond of Anchorage, James “Jim” (Roanne) Hammond of Shepherdsville and Gary (Denise) Hammond of Lawrenceburg; two grandchildren, John (Alisha) Hammond of Bardstown and Samantha Anne Temple of Floyds Knobs, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Richard Carwile officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
