Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, 1:50 p.m. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office continues to respond Thursday afternoon to reports that a wanted man they say is armed and dangerous. Thursday night, the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office reported the suspect was reportedly seen earlier in area of the 2700 block of Icetown Road.

Nelson County Dispatch has received several calls Thursday afternoon from area residents who reported spotting a man who they believe may match the description of Stephen Keith Halsey, 57, who is wanted for violating the terms of his parole and failing to report for parole supervision after he was released from prison on Dec. 1.

Police are following up on calls they receive, and have stepped up patrols in the area, including investigating the Nat Rogers Road end of Icetown Road. According to a report by WDRB, Halsey was spotted Wednesday in wooded areas along Patton Road near Icetown Road.

Halsey is a registered sex offender whose criminal history includes assault, burglary, rape and arson, and that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Individuals are encouraged to report suspicious activity to Nelson County Dispatch, (502) 348-3211.
