Springfield Police investigating Thursday night shooting incident

Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, 1 p.m. — Springfield Police are investigating a shooting that took place Thursday evening at a home on Domus Court off Mackville Road in Springfield.

According to a media release by Police Chief Jim Smith, Springfield Police were dispatched to the home at 8:08 p.m. and found Deporres R. Thompson, 28, of Springfield who had an apparent gunshot wound in the neck. The victim was transported by Washington County EMS to meet a medical helicopter and then flown to University Hospital in Louisville for evaluation and treatment of his injuries.

According to Springfield Police, he remains in critical condition.
