Obituary: Charles Stephen Hayden, 96, Samuels

Charles Stephen Hayden, 96, of Samuels, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at University Hospital in Louisville. He was born Nov. 26, 1919, in Owensboro. He served in the Fifth Air Force, U.S. Army during World War II. He was a dairy farmer for many years and retired from Nolin funeral_lilyProduction Credit Association (aka, Farm Credit Association and Farm Credit Services) in Bardstown.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Henry V. and Lula B. Hayden; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Hayden (Clayton); four sisters, Evelyn Porter, Ullinee Blanford, Thelma Wink and Lula B. Morgan; two brothers, H. V. Hayden Jr. and Paul M. Hayden; and two granddaughters, Tabetha Hayden and Aylice Hayden.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Rita Hayden (Greenwell); four sons, Stephen Hayden, Dale Hayden (Earlene), Ron Hayden and Jeff Hayden (Julie); five grandchildren, Patrick (Becky) Hayden, Bradley Hayden, Bailey (Cathy) Hayden, Max Hayden and Sarah Beth Hayden; and four great-grandchildren, Clayton Hayden, Catherine Hayden, William Hayden and Robert Hayden.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2016 at St. Gregory Catholic Church with burial at Michael Cemetery in Fairfield.

Visitation is 4-6:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, and 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. Monday.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gregory Church and St. Gregory School in name of the Charles S. Hayden Fund.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown is in charge of arrangements.
