Obituary: Carolyn Patricia Smith, 61, Cox’s Creek

Carolyn Patricia Smith, 61, of Cox’s Creek, died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, after many courageous years of battling illness. She went peacefully to her heavenly home with her family surrounding her. She was a kind, thoughtful, loving Mom, Nana, and friend to many, who was always helping others. She was born March 17, 1954, in Lebanon. She was a homemaker, former employee of NuKote, and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Lillian Keene Hill; her brother-in-law, Doug Hill; and her niece, Emily Wheatley.

She is survived by one daughter, Ashley (Frankie) Downs of Cox’s Creek; two sons, Michael (Kelly) Higdon of Louisville and Brad Smith of Bardstown; three sisters, Pam Hill of Greenwood, Ind., Katie (Mike) Wheatley of Springfield, and Rose Marie (Dr. Joe Pat) Taylor of Bardstown; one brothers, Mike (Chris Zoeller) Hill of Louisville; five grandchildren, Jake Higdon, Ava Higdon, Sommers Smith, Luke Downs and Landon Downs; and many nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fredericktown with burial in St. Rose Cemetery in Springfield with the Rev. Ben Brown officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday Jan. 21, 2016, and 9-10:15 a.m. Friday at Barlow Funeral Home.
