Obituary: Lucy Jane Brown, 89, Bloomfield

LUCY JANE BROWN

Lucy Jane Brown, 89, of Bloomfield, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, at Life Care Center of Bardstown. She was the former Lucy Jane Fulkerson, born Nov. 6, 1926, to the late Emmett Columbus and Emma Catherine Manakee Fulkerson. She was a homemaker, a former food service employee at the old Bloomfield High School, and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Brown; one son, Donnie Brown; one grandson, Donovan Brown; and one granddaughter, Julie Brown.

She is survived by two sons, Emmett (Brenda) Brown of Bardstown and Vernon (Sharon) Brown of Richmond; two sisters, Marguerite Stansbury and Mary Alice Karr, both of Bardstown; one brother, Earnest (Frances) Fulkerson of Cox’s Creek; one daughter-in-law, Donna K. Brown of Bloomfield; a special niece, Connie Smothers; a special nephew, Emmett Karr; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with burial in the New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
