Monday, Jan. 19, 2016, 11:30 p.m. — Dorothy White, the former executive director of the Bardstown-Nelson County Chamber of Commerce, was introduced Tuesday night as the new director of Nelson County Schools Community Support Inc., the foundation that will raise money to support education programs within the Nelson County school district.

White served as chamber director for 12 years; in 2008 she served as president of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives. Under her leadership, the local chamber was named a Top 10 Chamber by Business First in 2010.

“The board is excited to return our focus to bringing innovative, exceptional, experiences to our Nelson County Schools classrooms, and we know that Dorothy’s leadership and people skills will have a positive impact on each of our students,” board member Adam Wheatley said in introducing White.

White said she was looking forward to working with the board and appreciates the opportunity to serve the community.

EMPLOYEE LEASE AGREEMENT. The board approved an agreement that will make the foundation’s executive director a school district employee. The board will fund the position until such time the foundation can financially support paying White’s salary. Once the foundation can afford to pay her salary, White will continue as a district employee and the district will invoice the foundation.

The non-profit foundation’s board members include Toby Lewis, Dave French, Deanna Newton, Rick Zielke and Adam Wheatley.
