Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, 12:03 a.m. — Two local men have been charged for falsely reporting an incident in the disappearance of Crystal Rogers.
Vincent Nethery, 22 and Donald L. Howard, 27, both told investigators they had information that implicated Danny Singleton in Rogers presumed murder while being questioned on Dec. 29.
Upon further questioning by investigators, Howard admitted that he lied, and that he and another subject made up the story in an effort to get out of jail. Nethery also later admitted he had lied to investigators.
Both men were charged Jan. 13 with falsely reporting an incident, a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to 12 months in jail.
Singleton was indicted Dec. 16, 2015, on 38 counts of lying to a Nelson County grand jury during questioning in regard to the Crystal Rogers case. Singleton was an employee of Rogers’ boyfriend, Brooks Houck. Houck was the last person to see Crystal Rogers before she disappeared.
