Man fleeing police arrested after his getaway ATV crashes in the snow

Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, 10 a.m. — A Cox’s Creek man was arrested early Saturday morning on alcohol-related charges after he was observed cutting doughnuts on an ATV in the middle of KY 245 near Stonehouse Road.

dui_arrestSaturday at 12:46 a.m., Bardstown Police Officer Dalton Pinkston was on patrol when he observed an ATV operated by Travis Michael Evans , 24, spinning in circles on KY 245. Pinkston attempted a traffic stop, but Evans ignored Pinkston’s lights and sirens and fled aboard the ATV.

Pinkston pursued the ATV onto Lutheran Church Road, where it entered a subdivision before returning to KY 245. At times the pursuit hit speeds of 70 mph.

The ATV then turned onto Samuels Loop where it entered the St. Gregory Church parking lot, jumped a curb and then entered a field adjacent to the church. It was there at the ATV crashed, and Pinkston detained the operator at gunpoint.

Evans’ speech was slurred, and he admitted to police he had consumed six to seven beers. He was arrested and charged with fleeing and evading; wanton endangerment, first-degree; operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol; speeding; and operating an ATV on the roadway. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
