Obituary: Francis Jerome ‘Frank’ Flanagan Sr., 76, Lebanon

Francis Jerome “Frank” Flanagan Sr., 76, of Lebanon, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at his residence. He was born Jan. 8, 1940, in Marion County. He was a retired farmer and a retired employee of AKZO Noble in Louisville. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Roberta Mudd Flanagan; one sister, Patricia Langley; and one brother, Joe Flanagan.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Ann Rice Flanagan; four daughters, Debbie Essex (Ray), Mary Rita Clark (Tommy), Cathy Thomas (Brian) and Patty Yaden (David), all of Lebanon; two sons, Frank Flanagan Jr. (Diana) of Lebanon and John E. Flanagan (Michele) of Pekin, Ind.; four sisters, Mary Slater of Louisville, Barbara Miles and Teresa Hawkins both of Loretto and Dorothy Kehm (Dave) of Lebanon; one brother, Louis Flanagan (Aline) of Lebanon; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Hollabaugh of Indiana; 18 grandchildren, David Lee Flanagan, Jerry Essex, Nicole Essex-Curtis, Kayla Rosenstiel, Vicky Sharp, Allison Clark, Melissa Clark, Jessica Davis, Amanda Flanagan, Joshua Flanagan, Nikita Everage, Madison Everage, Christopher Thomas, Cody Thomas, Cambron Thomas, Lauren Yaden, Emily Yaden and Nick Yaden; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 675 Highway 327, Lebanon with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Nick Rice will officiate with Deacon Joseph R. Dant assisting.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials may go toward Masses or the Cancer Center at Taylor Regional Hospital, 125 Greenbriar Drive, Campbellsville, KY 42718

His children will serve as pallbearers. His sons-in-law and daughters-in-law will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
