Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 — The Bardstown Fire Department responded to the Bloomfield Road Dollar General Store Thursday night after an employee reported the smell of smoke in the building.
Firefighters were dispatched to the store located at 975 Bloomfield Road at about 9:40 p.m.. The employee said she heard popping noises from an electrical box. The store was evacuated when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters said the problem was caused by a freezer connected via an extension court. Fire crews removed the extension cord, and plugged the freezer directly into the wall outlet.
