Obituary: Jim Puerkel, 67, Bardstown

Jim Puerkel, 67, of Bardstown, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at his residence. He was born August 31, 1948, in Niles, Ill. He was a mechanic for the National Guard and attended Nelson Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lilly Puerkel; one brother, Greg Puerkel; and one brother-in-law, Tim Snape.

He is survived by his sister, Bonnie Snape of Fla.; one brother, Mike (Sue) Puerkel of Bardstown; one niece, Lisa (Jon) Cunningham; two nephews, Kevin (Polley) Sallin and Scott (Isabel) Sallin; great-nieces and nephews, Brian, Nick, Dave, Sydney, Samantha and Coral; and many Christian sisters and brothers.

The memorial service will be private.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
