Obituary: Leroy ‘Pop’ Hood, 81, Fairfield

Leroy “Pop” Hood, 81, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. He was born March 24, 1935, in Washington County to the late Earl and Rosie Frances Milburn Hood. He was a farmer and a former owner of the Fairfield Mini-Mart.

funeral_doveIn addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers.

He is survived by three daughters, Linda (Craig) Hahn of Lawrenceburg, Peggy (Jerry “Bucky”) Pendygraft of Parksville, and Rose Mary (Andy) Hagan of Bloomfield; three sons, Leroy “Tink” Hood Jr., of Bardstown, Bobby (Linda Lee) Hood of Springfield, and Billy “Otis” (Kathy Jo) Hood of Harrodsburg; five sisters, Christine (Charles) Carrier, Vesta Lee Moore, and Vianna Bobblet, all of Springfield, Myrna Shouse of Frankfort, and Wanda Lee (Jamie) Popps of Lawrenceburg; three brothers, Earl William (Teri) Hood of Springfield, Donald “Duck” (Marie) Hood and Frank Hood, both of Willisburg; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2016, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Mike Willingham officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home of Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
