Obituary: Richard Duane ‘Rooster’ Newton, 60, Cox’s Creek
Richard Duane “Rooster” Newton, 60, of Cox’s Creek, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2016, at Norton Pavilion in Louisville. He was born Aug. 3, 1955, in Frankfurt, Germany. He was a former employee of Interlake Conveyers and Tower Automotive. He was an avid motorcycle rider. He was a life member of the NRA and carpenters union, past president of Bullitt County & Vicinity Industrial Workers. He was a member of the American Legion Post 157 and St. Gregory Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother Roberta Jean Crepps Mudd.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Mae Newton of Louisville; his father and stepmother, Sergeant Joseph Edgar (Joyce) Newton of Radcliff; his stepfather, Joseph Francis Mudd of Bardstown; four sisters, Judy (Phillip) Hite, Becky Newton and Julia Ann Mudd, all of Bardstown, and Michelle (Steve) Witte of Radcliff; four brothers, Joe (Shelley) Newton of Radcliff, John (Anita) Newton of Vine Grove, Bill (Janelle) Mudd of Clermont and Bobby (Tammy) Mudd of Deatsville.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at the funeral home.
The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
