EDITH KAELIN

Edith Kaelin, 84, of Bardstown, died Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 at Life Care Center of Bardstown. She was born April 20, 1931, in Hardin County. She was retired from the Nelson County Health Department and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was very active with the WIC program for many years. She was a volunteer with the Nelson County Community Clinic and with the St. Joseph Bereavement Committee.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo W. Kaelin; her son, George Kaelin; her parents, W.R. and Georgia Patterson; and sisters and brother, Alice O’Bryan, Jessie Smith, Louise Shoemaker and Bob Patterson.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (David) Vittitow of Bardstown; one granddaughter, Brandi (Brian) Crawford of Louisville; three great-grandchildren, Camille Crawford, Miles Crawford and Brooks Crawford; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery with the Rev. Jason Harris officiating.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, and 9-10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Joseph Church or to the donor’s favorite charity.

The Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
