Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, 8 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called out at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday after a motorist called 911 after observing semi tractor-trailer’s rear brakes on fire. Police caught up with the truck in the 400 block of North Third Street. Police shut down traffic on North Third while firefighters responded to extinguish the fire. The fire caused the rear tires to pop; the noise prompted some observers to believe police had discharged one or more of their firearms. The truck was carrying automotive windshields. The truck was moved from North Third Street to Kentucky Home Square to await a wrecker. No one was injured in the incident.
