Deputy sheriff suffers minor injuries when his cruiser is hit on parkway

Feb 15, 2016, 9:40 a.m. — A Nelson County Deputy Sheriff suffered minor injuries when his cruiser was hit by another vehicle while he was checking emslogoon a stranded motorist Sunday evening in Bluegrass Parkway’s westbound lanes near the 22 mile marker.

The westbound lanes of the parkway were shut down at the 25 and 21 mile markers and traffic was routed through town while first-responders responded to the accident. Several other vehicles had crashed or run off the roadway in the same area due to the slick and hazardous road conditions.

The deputy was taken to Flaget Memorial Hospital by another deputy. Nelson County EMS transported a passenger in the other vehicle to Flaget with minor injuries. The Bardstown Fire Department assisted with traffic control.
