Local officers assist with arrest after drug task force investigation

Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016, 2 p.m. — One man was arrested early Tuesday morning following a drug investigation by the Greater Hardin County Narcotics Task Force.

On Monday, Feb. 15, task force detectives, assisted by the Nelson Sheriff’s Office and Bardstown Police K9, arrested Eric Scott Keeling, 36, after police found more than one-quarter pound of crystal methamphetamine in his vehicle. The drug has a street value of approximately $11,000, according to a task force press release.

Police also seized a loaded SKS rifle, two loaded handguns and approximately $800 in cash from Keeling’s vehicle. One of the handguns had been reported stolen.

Keeling was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, first-degree; possession of drug paraphernalia; possession of a handgun by a convicted felon (2 counts); possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; receiving stolen property (firearm); and knowingly / fraudulently use of an ID card or electronic code for benefits. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.

Additional suspects are expected to be charged as the investigation continues.
